Getting back to normal life, quickly and safely.

Rapid Recovery Joint Replacement.

Recent advances in patient care before, during, and after surgery allows for more rapid and safe recovery after joint replacement surgery.

Pain control.

Improved pain control leads to happier patients and quicker mobility.

A multimodal approach includes nerve blocks to control pain, short-acting spinal anaesthesia to allow earlier walking and participation with physiotherapy, and a combination of acetaminophen and anti-inflammatories to minimize the use of narcotics/opioids.

Avoiding patient “hospitalization”.

It all begins with changing your mindset. The majority of joint replacement patients are “well-patients” and don’t require indwelling bladder catheters or activity restrictions.

We encourage patients to get up and begin walking as soon as they are safe to do so under the guidance of a physiotherapist or nurse, usually within hours of surgery.

Nausea control.

Fasting before surgery, a drop in blood pressure from the anaesthesia, and narcotic pain medication can lead to nausea and vomiting.

Aggressive management of nausea with intravenous fluids, anti-nausea medication, and minimizing opioids can transform the patient experience and ensure a quicker return to normal life.

Patient education and personalized care.

We strive to ensure you make informed choices about your care in the road to recovery.

Improved preparation and post-operative rehabilitation allows you to get home faster and more safely, sometimes on the same day of your joint replacement surgery.
